After some time working in mixed practices in Hertfordshire and Malton, North Yorkshire, David joined Greenwood Ellis & Partners in 1989 and became a partner in 1995. He has responsibility for a number of Thoroughbred stud farms and racing stables and has a particular interest in the control of inflammatory airway disease in horses in training.
David obtained his Certificates in Equine Practice in 1990 and in Equine Stud Medicine in 1992. He held the position of Chief Examiner for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in Equine Stud Medicine for several years and has lectured regularly at the TBA Stud Farming Course, the National Stud and Cambridge University. David joined the Council of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) in 1998 and in 2008 became President. From 2012-2018 he acted as Veterinary Advisor to the Racecourse Owners Association and is Veterinary Advisor to the sales company Tattersalls. He is Chairman of the Trustees of the University of Cambridge Veterinary School Trust. Since 2010 he has acted as Managing Partner.
Matt is a 2001 graduate of the Royal Veterinary College. After graduation he completed an internship at Greenwood Ellis and Partners, before returning to the RVC where he undertook his residency in Equine Surgery. He became a Diplomat of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2007, and has been recognised by the RCVS as a specialist in Equine Surgery since 2008. Matt undertook additional studies resulting in passing the RCVS Diploma in Equine Orthopaedics in 2011. His thesis was on clinical applications of endoscopic techniques in orthopaedic surgery.
Since 2006 Matt has worked as a surgeon at Newmarket Equine Hospital, and in 2021 took on the role of hospital director. He is interested in all areas of equine surgery, but with particular emphasis on orthopaedic surgery, and more specifically arthroscopy and fracture repair.

Benoit qualified in 1986 from the University of Liege.
He undertook his military service, attached to the cavalry, prior to joining the practice in 1988. He obtained his Certificate in Equine Practice in 1993 and became a partner in 1995.
He specialises in racehorse lameness and medicine and has a strong interest in competition horses. He also carries out many pre-purchase examinations for private sales and at all major yearling and horses in training sales.
David qualified in 1989 from the Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Liverpool.
After qualifying, David specialised in anaesthesia at Liverpool University and the Animal Health Trust and obtained his Diplomate in Veterinary Anaesthesia in 1992. He joined Greenwood Ellis & Partners in 1996 and became a partner in 2005. His principal involvement is with horses in training. David is a member of the veterinary panel of Doncaster Bloodstock Sales.
Simon qualified in 1994 from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London and he obtained his Certificate in Equine Practice in 2003.
Simon worked in mixed equine practice prior to going to Australia. On his return in 1997, he joined Greenwood Ellis & Partners and, after further periods working abroad, he became a partner in 2005. His work is now largely focussed on the racing side of the practice, where his interests are the veterinary management of racehorses both in the UK and Internationally.

Gaynor graduated from the University of Bristol in 1998 and following an internship and experience in first opinion practice joined the referrals team headed by Ian Wright in 2002. She gained the RCVS Certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics) in 2007 and became a partner at Newmarket Equine Hospital in 2011. Following the European College latterly developing a large animal track residency in Diagnostic Imaging, Gaynor achieved Diplomate status in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in 2019 and is a RCVS and EBVS recognised specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.
Paul graduated from University College, Dublin in 2009. He then undertook a 12 month surgery internship at Hagyard Davidson McGee in Lexington, Kentucky before spending the 2010 breeding season on a stud in Victoria, Australia.
Paul joined Newmarket Equine Hospital in March 2011, and re-located to Ireland in 2022, where he works out of our associate practice Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital. Paul has strong interests in Thoroughbred work and spends much of his time working at sales throughout the Ireland, the UK and abroad.
Mark qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2004.
He spent two years as an intern at Greenwood Ellis and Partners where he was involved with the referral and surgery teams. He then spent six months working on New Zealand’s South Island, Christchurch doing mixed first opinion and referral work.
In 2007 he returned to Newmarket Equine Hospital, joining the ambulatory team, where he works extensively with Thoroughbreds in pre-training, training and rehoming as well as sport and leisure horses. Mark holds a particular interest in the investigation and management of lameness.
He spent 5 years on the committee of the Association of Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons.
Mark joined the partnership in January 2018.
Will returned to the Newmarket Equine Hospital on completion of his surgical residency to join the referrals team and specialise in equine surgery. In February 2014 Will successfully passed the qualifying examinations of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, becoming a Diplomate of the college and gaining recognition as a European Specialist in Equine Surgery.
Will has published several papers in peer reviewed scientific journals and presented both nationally and internationally, on subjects including soft tissue injuries to the tarsocrural joint and sinus surgery.
Prior to embarking on his veterinary career Will was a keen event rider, unfortunately Will no longer competes but still finds time to ride.
Liam qualified in 1993 from Massey University, New Zealand. After qualifying, he worked in mixed rural practice in New Zealand, before coming to the UK and joining Greenwood, Ellis & Partners in 1996. In 2001 he returned to New Zealand where he worked in a large Thoroughbred practice. He returned to NEH in 2014.
Liam has been involved in all aspects of general Thoroughbred practice and now focuses on all aspects of stud medicine. He has also served on the Complaints Assessment Committees for the Veterinary Council of New Zealand.
Stuart graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2010. Following two years in mixed practice in the West Midlands he moved to Newmarket and spent four years at another large Thoroughbred practice. Here he gained invaluable experience working on several large training yards and at sales both in the UK and abroad. Stuart joins our racing and sales teams with a keen interest in lameness, diagnostic imaging and pre-purchase examination. Stuart is also a member of the veterinary panel at Goffs UK.
Stuart became partner in January 2021.
Jan qualified in 2001 from the School of Veterinary Science, University of Bristol.
She worked in general equine practice for three years where she gained an interest in reproductive work and artificial insemination (A.I.). Following a stud season in New Zealand, she joined Greenwood Ellis & Partners in 2006.
Her interests include all forms of stud work, including A.I. and neonatal care.
Andrew comes from a National Hunt racing background in Ireland. He graduated in Warsaw, Poland, before undertaking a surgery internship at Hagyard Davidson McGee in Lexington Kentucky.
Andrew joined the practice in June 2017. Since then, Andrew has developed his interests in Thoroughbred work and spends a lot of time working at sales throughout the UK, Ireland and abroad. He also has a big interest in lameness, diagnostic imaging and general health of the racehorse.

Jess graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2025 and joined NEH shortly afterwards. Jess is very excited to continue her training at NEH and has a particular interest in surgery and sports medicine.
BSc VetMB MRCVS
Jeremy qualified as a vet in 1998 from Cambridge University having previously done a degree in Animal Science at Nottingham University.
He enjoys all aspects of equine practice, especially sport and leisure horse veterinary work and equine dentistry. He is normally accompanied by his trusty canine companion, Ricky (from Romania) while out on his visit rounds.
He is a keen polo player in his spare time and loves breeding and training young ponies.
